For Zoe Wilson, art begins with the long-time habit and practice  of creating things. She has a memory of creating her first piece of art, she created a piece with paper and put googly eyes and it was called “my eyes”. She was born in Rochester, New York, and went to Eastern Monroe Career Center for Visual Communication and Photography and a degree in New Media Design from Fingerlakes Community College.

By looking past, the obvious, close observation and engagement of the subject is important to her process. The challenge is to see beyond the distraction of the conspicuous to capture its unique self. Some of her subjects are quite beautiful, others less so. Her goal is to inspire those who see her work to look more carefully at the world around them, to discover beauty in unusual places. All her art has a story to tell.
